This guide breaks down every cost component so you can compare quotes with confidence and avoid paying for treatments that cannot work for your condition.
The most expensive treatment is the one aimed at the wrong diagnosis. How much does hair loss treatment cost in Singapore
As a broad orientation, consultation and diagnosis usually cost under $500 including targeted blood tests. Topical minoxidil runs around $70 to $80 per bottle. Prescription oral medication is a modest recurring monthly cost. Laser and regenerative treatments are priced per session and are usually delivered as a course, with the Fraxel 1550 and Fraxel 1927 lasers for hair at $1,000 per treatment each and Bellasonic Hair, an LDM treatment that penetrates NMN, NAD plus, exosomes and AnteAGE into the hair follicles, at $300 to $400 per treatment.
Consultation and diagnosis
Every legitimate treatment plan starts here, and this is the least expensive part of the journey. Costs are influenced by clinic location, doctor seniority and consultation length. Trichoscopy, which is a magnified digital examination of the scalp, is often included in a doctor led consultation. Blood tests are added only when your history points to a systemic cause, and are priced according to the number of markers tested, which may include a full blood count, ferritin, thyroid function, vitamin D and hormonal screens.
Iron deficiency and thyroid dysfunction are common, reversible contributors to hair shedding, and they are invisible on the scalp but obvious on a blood test. Medication cost
Medication is the workhorse of pattern hair loss treatment and the most economical ongoing option. Topical minoxidil at The Clifford Clinic is available as Growell 5 percent scalp lotion, priced at around $72.90 excluding goods and services tax per bottle, with monthly cost depending on the area treated. Minoxidil works only while it is used, and it needs 3 to 6 months of consistent application before results can be judged.
For men, DHT lowering oral medication is a recurring monthly cost that varies between branded and generic options. Finasteride and minoxidil are the two treatments approved by regulators for androgenetic alopecia, and their efficacy is supported by multiple randomised trials and systematic reviews. Dutasteride, a more potent dual inhibitor, and topical anti androgens such as clascoterone are priced differently again. All prescription options require a doctor assessment and periodic review.
Over a year, medication alone typically costs roughly $300 to $1,200, far less than a single procedural package. This is why doctors usually position medication as the foundation before adding costlier treatments.
Laser and energy based treatment cost
Laser and energy based therapies are priced per session and are usually recommended as a course, then maintenance. Clinic grade lasers such as the 1550 nm erbium glass and 1927 nm thulium fractional lasers cost more per session than home low level laser devices. Regenerative options such as Regenera Activa, platelet rich plasma, polydeoxyribonucleotide and exosomes are priced per procedure or per session. Ask how many sessions are anticipated in the first year, at what interval top ups are expected, and what objective measurement, such as trichoscopy photographs or density counts, will judge whether the treatment worked.
In female pattern hair loss, twelve weekly polydeoxyribonucleotide injections improved hair counts by about 18 percent and thickness by about 14 percent, and combining polydeoxyribonucleotide with platelet rich plasma raised these figures further. A 24 week clinical study of adipose derived exosomes reported significant density increases with high satisfaction and no severe adverse reactions. A 2026 systematic review estimated exosome related density improvements of roughly 8 to 20 percent while noting that sample sizes remain small and protocols are not yet standardised. Higher price does not automatically mean stronger evidence, so ask what supports the specific product being used.
Scalp treatments, shampoos and supplements

For early male pattern hair loss, expect a consultation and trichoscopy, then daily medication, with a first year budget of roughly the cost of a consultation plus around $300 to $1,500 in medication, and an optional laser or regenerative course to accelerate results. For female diffuse thinning with suspected deficiency, expect a consultation, blood tests, correction of iron or vitamin D, and possibly topical minoxidil, where the blood tests are the highest value spend. For moderate pattern loss where the patient wants a visible density gain, expect a medication foundation plus a course of regenerative or laser sessions, in the low thousands. For advanced stable loss, expect an ongoing combination of medication and periodic in clinic treatments to protect and thicken the remaining hair.
The hidden costs to plan for
Review consultations, repeat blood tests after correcting a deficiency, and the cost of stopping and restarting are all real. Patients who stop medication for six months and restart lose ground they then pay to regain, because the benefits of minoxidil and finasteride reverse on discontinuation. Prepaid multi session packages also carry a breakage risk if you respond early or respond poorly. Is hair loss treatment subsidised

Where hair loss is a symptom of an underlying medical condition, such as thyroid disease or an inflammatory scalp condition, treatment of that underlying condition follows normal medical funding rules. How to compare quotes
Insist on a diagnosis before a quote, because a price given before your scalp is examined is a package price rather than a treatment plan. Ask for itemised pricing in writing, covering consultation, tests and per session prices.
