SECRET RF is a revolutionary non-surgical treatment that uses fractional radio frequency (RF) and micro-needles for the treatment of depressed acne scars. What is the difference with Fractional Co2?
Unlike Fractional CO2 laser, the Secret RF does not use laser beams to penetrate into the skin. These ablative lasers although useful to cut through scar fibers and stimulate collagen growth, the fractional CO2 laser has a long down time due to the ablative nature of the laser light energy hitting the epidermis.
The Secret RF uses micro-needles with a radiofrequency to penetrate into the deep dermal layers of the skin. This allows for deeper collagen stimulation with better effect of cutting through of scar fibers.
Because of the tightening effect, it is also able to stretch out rolling scars and improve mid face sagging.
What is the difference with Infini?
Infini uses insulated microneedle radiofrequency in the treatment of acne scars while Secret RF uses non-insulated microneedle radiofrequency. We have discovered that certain scars that do not respond well to Infini actually respond to Secret RF. Yes, SECRET RF is designed to work with a variety of skin types, so it is safe even for those with dark skin types.
A session is approximately one hour.
A topical anaesthesia will be administered before the treatment begins, so it is virtually painless.
This varies with every patient, but most patients start to see results after 4-5 treatments. Each treatment is conducted every 3 weeks. Results vary from person to person, and our doctors will be able to advise you personally on expected results after assessment.
It is recommended that the patient avoid being exposed directly to sunlight that could damage the skin. Certain medications such as those containing isotretinoin such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid or Retin-A® should also be avoided as it may irritate the skin. After treatment, avoid cleansing the face until the redness disappears. Cleanse after with cool water and dab face dry gently. A sunscreen should be applied daily to protect your skin during the course of the treatment.
