“Do collagen drinks work?”
A common question asked by our patients is whether collagen drinks are useful in replacing the skin’s collagen. Unfortunately, there is currently no evidence to suggest that consuming collagen is effective in restoring collagen levels in the skin.
Furthermore, collagen is a large protein molecule that needs to be broken down into its individual amino acid components in order to be absorbed by the gut and seeing that these components aren’t always transported to the skin – replenishing collagen levels is often easier said than done.

How does Fractional CO2 laser work? Essentially, it activates our body’s natural repair system to replenish collagen in the skin. By delivering minimal thermal damage to affected parts of the skin; it responds by giving off signals to tell the body to repair and rebuild skin at these areas.
This triggers the body to deliver the raw materials needed to build collagen in the areas that need it most – thus beginning the regeneration process. Collagen remodelling takes place from several weeks to a month – and the result is plumper, smoother and tighter skin that looks younger and more radiant.
Each session takes roughly 10 minutes, during which our doctors will proceed to treat the targeted areas by utilizing precise laser beams to heat up the dermis. Patients may feel a slight warm sensation during their treatment, and suffer from mild redness that typically subsides within a day.

Most of our patients are able to see noticeable improvements just after the first session. For optimal results however, our doctors recommend having multiple sessions over several weeks.
There is minimal downtime for Edge Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment. The skin may flush red after each session, but this will usually subside within a day or two.
