The First Injectable Liquid Polycaprolactone (PCL)
What is PCL filler?
DEXLEVO, a company from South Korea, had invented the world’s first liquid polymer filler.
PCL can be degraded by the human body and hence, its popular use as an implantable biomaterial.
PCL has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in specific applications used in the human body such as drug delivery device and sutures. By stimulating collagen product, PCL-based products can reverse facial ageing features such as volume loss and contour laxity, providing a good long-lasting natural effect.
PCL filler has anti-aging properties and is biodegradable as well. Being in a liquid form, the filler can spread evenly throughout the entire face and hence promotes natural skin collagen synthesis, which helps your skin age more gracefully.
PCL Fillers vs Dermal Fillers
PCL Filler is developed using DEXLEVO’s Caollagenesis-Enabled Solubilized Active and Biodegradable Polymer Technology (CESABP) technology that enables regeneration of natural skin collagen without the use of microparticles.
There are hyaluronic acid (HA)- base fillers and PCL-base fillers. Dermal fillers may also have a regenerative impact on the collagen. Due to the nature and shape of particles, dermal filler cannot be injected evenly into the skin. As a result, these fillers are limited to focal areas only. For example, we can use a PCL-based filler to fill up certain types of acne scars.
As such, PCL Filler is more for a generalized effect while dermal fillers are more targeted and focused on areas that have a specific volume defect.
PCL Filler VS Injectable Moisturizers - Hyaluronic Acid
While both PCL Filler and Injectable Moisturizers – Hyaluronic Acid only require 10 injection points, they are made of different substances. PCL Filler is made with fully solubilized liquid form of PCL while Injectable Moisturizers – Hyaluronic Acid is made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Injectable Moisturizers – Hyaluronic Acid can help with hydrating the skin as well as giving a gentle glow to the skin, while PCL Filler helps by giving a gentle lifting effect to the face in a generalized fashion.
Benefits of PCL Filler
- Fewer injection points, as compared to other types of skin injectables, except Injectable Moisturizers – Hyaluronic Acid which requires the same injection points
- Transforms into a three-dimensional matrix and encourages fibroblasts formation
- Stimulates new collagen production
- Increases skin elasticity and rendering a gentle facelift
Treatment Procedure
PCL Filler is carefully injected into 5 specific points on each side of the patient’s face. A layer of numbing cream will be applied prior to the procedure.
