Hair Story: Why FUE Hair Transplant is for you
The reality of hair loss can be a frustrating situation, and it is a condition that eventually happens to most. When our hair starts to thin as we age, it often feels like there is not much to do but to live with it. Fortunately, thanks to technology and research, it is not only the skin or facial features that can be addressed by procedures, so can our hair growth.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) Hair Transplant is a method of harvesting hair follicles for hair transplant. In short, it’s using the healthy hair follicles you already have to grow hair in the areas that need it.
What happens when with hair loss is the blood supply to the hair follicle, or the sac from which hair grows, is restricted and the follicle doesn’t receive sufficient supply of oxygen and nutrients. Hair continues to fall out when follicles are unhealthy.
How It Works
Individual follicular units are extracted directly from the donor area—let’s say the lower part of your head near your nape where there is much healthy hair—one at a time. The harvested grafts are then stored in a special solution that provides nutrients to the hair to stimulate growth process for the last step, implanting the grafts in the desired area.
Unlike other hair transplant procedures, FUE has minimal scarring, so even if your hair has been shaved to aid with the extraction process, it is unnoticeable to the naked eye that there may have been a procedure performed in the donor area. FUE also has a shorter recovery time compared to other procedures. Most patients go back to their usual daily activity after their procedure. With FUE, the donor area is also unlimited—you may transplant hair follicles from other body parts like your arms, legs, chest, and back, if it is the best option for you if you have a limited supply of healthy donor grafts.
Who Is It For?
Many different patients opt for FUE for a number of reasons, whether it’s suffering from male or female pattern hair loss or those who want to enhance their eyebrows, beards, or sideburns. It has also been availed of by patients who have suffered hair loss as a side effect of treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
At Clifford Clinic, FUE Hair Transplant is performed with great advantage. The treatment is done with micro-tips, or micro-surgery equipment, to minimally affect the donor area. Scars are almost imperceptible, pain is decreased, and recovery time is more rapid. It also allows faster harvesting to meet the patient’s requirement.
The bio-solution used was carefully chosen to create optimum results when grafts are transplanted, making patients more confident in the positive outcome of the treatment. We also offer dense packing, a thickening technique to create a more natural looking frontal hair line when needed.
We are also able to transplant large number of grafts (more than 3,000) in a single session we call mega-session. We are one of the few clinics who can offer this with our skilled technicians, cutting the procedure time greatly.
If requested, Clifford Clinic can perform an unshaven-FUE. Normally hair must be shaven to harvest but with the unshaven-FUE, we can limit it to cutting the hair only of the grafts to be harvested. The recipient area can be areas with existing hair so any scabs or redness can easily be hidden by the existing hair. With this procedure, however, expect it to require more time, cost, and less grafts transplanted.
